My beautiful partner and extended family are closely related to Nick. Ex Police for 24 years, I observed far too many men commit suicide and I also saw the impacts of it on so many. I commonly have friends and friends of friends going through rough patches and have already helped these guys out and assisted in them turning things around so they can live their best lives. Love being a part of Spoke to A Bloke and making a difference, whilst also raising awareness for Mens Mental Health in memory of Nick.

Walk Leader, Broome

My connection to Spoke to a Bloke runs deep - Nick was my eldest cousin. I first joined the movement by taking part in a walk in Broome with my sister Laila and partner Sean during the same year the boys in Sydney did their first walk. At the time, I never imagined how big this movement would become, or how many men and families across the world would benefit from it. Broome, a small and remote town in the Kimberley, is a place where this walk truly makes a difference. Spoke to a Bloke has reached so many men and families here in such a positive and meaningful way, and I'm honoured to be a part of it. I never thought my own family would be touched by suicide - but we have, sadly and shockingly. What the boys in Sydney have accomplished is truly incredible. As Paul and Adrian my cousins, Matt and Scott my friends since our early teens, I'm both proud and humbled to be involved in continuing their message of hope, support, and connection.

After the walk

Lunch is available at the finish venue after the walk. It's not included in your ticket, but it's a good reason to stick around.

Family and supporters are welcome to meet you at the finish line and join the celebrations. You don't need to complete the full distance. The point is showing up.

Can't finish? That's fine. Let a volunteer know and exit the course at any point.

What to bring

At least 1L of water: a small backpack or camel pack works well
Sunscreen and a hat
